Each graph is accompanied by its numerical data

An image is often better than a long speech. Yes, but first of all, it may have been difficult to understand a graph (curve, diagram, histogram, pipe…) if we do not have the data that has been used to create it. On the other hand, some users will not be able to access the graphical rendering, and access to the data will allow them to understand the content.

Objectives

  • Allow or improve chart understanding.
  • Facilitate data sharing.
  • Improve accessibility of content to readers with disabilities.
  • Improve content support by search engines and indexing tools.

Implementation

  • For each graph representing numeric data (curve, chart, histogram, pipe… :
    • Display structured, in the context of the chart, all the numeric data it represents, for example in the form of a data table.
    • or provide in the context of the graph a link to content of the same type.

Control

  • Check the presence, for each chart, of structured content indicating all the numeric data it represents, or a link to a page providing it.

Validation

  • Needs to be human verified.
